What the tool calculates
Thahby uses a nisab of 85 g of pure gold and 2.5% for a lunar year. Pure gold equals the sum of each weight × karat ÷ 24. Cash zakat is the value of eligible pure gold on the due date × 2.5%. The result is a calculation aid; the conditions of liability, including the holding period, must be met.
Mixed-karat example
80 g of 21K contains 70 g of pure gold; 20 g of 18K contains 15 g. Total: 85 g. At 400 per pure gram, the value is 34,000 and 2.5% is 850, if the conditions apply. Past making charges are not added in this example.
Check your situation
Scholars differ on jewelry for personal use and some nisab weight estimates. Other assets, debts, trading stock and acquisition dates may affect the ruling. A gold-only result below the nisab does not settle liability for all your wealth. Enter metal weights without stones, check the price date and consult a trusted religious authority for your circumstances.
